I went to the movies yesterday and I must confess that nomatter how evolved my nutritional choices become, it's just NOT the same without the popcorn! My concession is that I do ask for it without butter. (I'm not certain why certain kernels in my popcorn bag are still yellow or why exactly I am 'ok' with that.)So while I am mentally patting myself on the back for this HUGE step forward, I can't deny the excessive saltiness. My solution....I bring a banana to the movies and a bag for the peel. This is horrific to my son! I mean "who does that?" Once a woman behind us went so far as to comment loudly to her husband how odd it was that a person would bring fruit to a movie theater. Hey, I've read the signs but after having spent an average of $25-$35 on their snacks for everyone I do feel entitled to my sodium balancing potassium rich banana! To be fair, as soon as they start selling bananas, I'll stop bringing my own....

Slim Tips For Real Life!
Welcome to Slim Tips! My commitment to this blog is to share tips and 'tricks' to help you to combat all of the offenders to your diet and size management. What are these offenders? I am so glad that you asked! You can't really win the war if you don't know who your enemy is.
To your diet, I mean from a fluctuation, I'm going to put sodium on the list.
The regular iodized salt that hides in your food. Not all food, of course. But a whole lot of it! If you eat out or buy anything that is prepared (this includes frozen and microwaveable foods), you can be pretty certain that it is LOADED with salt. It will vary per person how you
retain this salt and the fluid that will ultimately come along with it. For some it will go to your hips or ankles, for many others it will surround your middle section!
Of course you can check your labels. That certainly helps. But at a restaurant? That's impossible! So today's SLIM TIP: After a sodium filled meal, eat a half of a large banana or a whole small banana. The potassium from the banana will offset the sodium allowing your body to process it and not store it!!
